I am new to cheese making and at the moment have my first batch waxed and ageing in a wine fridge.

I waxed it approximately 3 weeks ago and just noticed that on the bottom the wax appears to have air bubbles underneath! EEEkkk…

What has happened can anyone shed any light?? Or anyway to fix. Obviously I don’t want to have to rewax if I don’t have to.

Any help of advise is appreciated!!

(Have attached a picture – you can see it doesn’t appear to be a mould growing underneath)

was it a swiss-ish type cheese using proprionic shermanii? Those critters make gas which might explain it.
