Can someone explain the difference between whey and brine?

When I buy a feta or mozzarella in liquid at the store, what is this liquid and how can I use it?

I’m all new to this. Thanks!

Whey is a product of making cheese the liquid part of the milk once the milk solids or cheese is removed. Brine is water and salt mixed together to preserve cheese and to add flavor once cheese is made. What you get in fetta and mozzarella at the store is brine. Use it in salad dressings etc.
